Microsoft 365 Bookings vs Accupe Booking for Advisory Firms

Comparing Microsoft 365 Bookings with Accupe's booking calendar for UK advisory and accounting firms standardised on the Microsoft stack.

Many UK accounting and advisory firms are deep in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem - Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive. Microsoft 365 Bookings is bundled in most Business Premium subscriptions and integrates natively with that stack. Accupe's booking calendar takes a different approach, treating scheduling as a layer inside practice management. For Microsoft-native firms, which path makes sense?

Microsoft 365 Bookings Strengths

Native integration with Outlook calendars and Microsoft Teams meetings. No additional subscription cost for firms already on Business Premium. Customers see their booking land directly in your Outlook. Teams meeting links are generated automatically. For firms that live in Outlook, the gravitational pull is strong.

Bookings supports multiple staff calendars, service definitions, customer-facing booking pages with firm branding, and SMS reminders in supported regions.

Where It Falls Short

Bookings is a scheduling tool only. It does not know your client records beyond email and name. It does not trigger workflows. It does not connect to AML screening, document collection or engagement letter generation. The booking lives in Microsoft's world; everything afterward lives somewhere else.

For firms with reasonably casual scheduling needs, that is fine. For firms whose every booking is the start of a regulated client engagement, the disconnect creates friction.

Accupe Booking In Context

Accupe's booking sits inside the same platform as Smart Boards, Client Hub, Compliance Radar and the AI document tools. A booking creates or updates a client record, optionally fires onboarding workflows, and sits on a timeline alongside the firm's wider operational view.

Honest caveat: Accupe does not integrate as natively with Outlook calendar as a Microsoft-first tool will. We sync via standard calendar protocols and trigger Teams or other meeting links via integration, but the experience is one step less native than Microsoft's own product.

Compliance and Onboarding

Accupe bookings can trigger AML/KYC document requests through the Client Hub immediately, ensuring the discovery call is followed by the regulatory groundwork. Bookings has no such concept.

Cost

Microsoft 365 Bookings is included in Business Premium (£18.10/user/month) at no extra cost. Accupe Growth at £55/month for five users includes booking plus the entire practice management suite. Comparing like for like, Microsoft is cheaper on scheduling alone but does not replace practice management.

Practical Architectures

Some firms run both: Bookings for general meeting scheduling within the existing Microsoft stack, Accupe Booking for client-facing onboarding and engagement-triggering flows. There is no rule against using each where it excels.

Verdict

Microsoft 365 Bookings is excellent if all you need is calendar scheduling within your existing Microsoft subscription. Accupe Booking is the right answer when scheduling is part of a wider regulated client lifecycle and you want the booking to actually start the work, not just block out time.
