Reading the month view
The deadline calendar always shows a single month at a time, laid out as a standard grid. This article covers how to read that grid: the layout, the colours, and what counts as overdue.
The grid
Each week runs Monday to Sunday. The header row along the top is labelled Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun, with the Saturday and Sunday labels shown in a more muted colour, and the Saturday and Sunday cells themselves shaded slightly differently to the weekday cells. Today's date is marked with a filled circular badge so it's easy to find at a glance.
Moving between months
Above the grid you'll find three controls:
- Previous month (left-pointing chevron)
- Next month (right-pointing chevron)
- Today, which jumps straight back to the first of the current month
There's no week view or day view, and no way to jump to a specific date. The calendar only ever shows a full month at a time. The month label above the grid reads out in full, for example "July 2026", and just below the navigation controls a status line summarises what's on the grid, for example "5 open jobs · 12 tasks · UK working week".
Colour coding
Every deadline is shown as a small pill inside its day cell, with an icon and colour that tell you what it is.
Overdue vs upcoming
Overdue status overrides the usual job/task colouring. If a deadline's effective, region-shifted due date is due today or later, it keeps its normal purple or green colour. If that effective date has already passed, the pill turns red regardless of whether it's a job or a task. Red is always the signal to look at first when scanning a month.
When a day has more than three deadlines
Each day cell shows up to three deadline pills. If there are more than that, a plain "+N more" line appears underneath. It's text only, not a link or button, so it doesn't expand or open anything. For a day that busy, go to All Jobs (/dashboard/jobs) or All Tasks (/dashboard/jobs/tasks) instead and use their own sorting and filtering to see the full list for that date.
If the calendar is empty
If your firm has no open jobs or tasks with a due date at all, the grid is replaced with an empty state: a calendar icon, the heading "No deadlines on the books", and the explanation "Open jobs and tasks with a due date land here automatically. Set a due date and it appears with one-week alert built in." A Go to Smart Board button takes you to /dashboard/smart-board to get started.
Note: No pill on this calendar links to a specific job or task. Purple pills go to the general All Jobs list and green pills go to the general All Tasks list. Once you've spotted a deadline you care about, use that list's own search to open the exact record.
