Companies House integration
This is a UK-only feature. If your firm is set up for the UAE, you won't see it: instead, the Integrations page shows a "Federal Tax Authority (FTA)" card marked "Coming Soon", which isn't built yet.
What it does
Accupe's Companies House integration runs on a single, server-side Companies House API key that Accupe manages centrally, it isn't something your firm connects or authorises individually. On the Integrations page (Settings, then Integrations) you'll see a card headed "Companies House" with a green "API Key Active" badge and the description "Synchronize limited company data, including directors, officers, confirmation statement deadlines, and SIC codes reliably." There's no Connect or Disconnect button on this card, it's informational only, confirming the integration is live for your firm.
Searching for a company
You can look up a company on Companies House in two places:
From the Client List, "Add from CH" opens a "Search Companies House" window. Type at least two characters into the search box (placeholder: "Search by company name or number...") and matching companies appear shortly after. Each result shows the company title, an address snippet, its incorporation date ("Est. {date}"), a status badge such as "active", and its company number.
Select a result to load its full profile: company name, number, status, and type (mapped to a plain-English label, so "ltd" becomes "Limited Company", "llp" becomes "LLP", "plc" becomes "PLC", and so on), plus its registered office address, incorporation date, and SIC codes where available.
Key deadlines and filings
The company profile includes a "Key Deadlines" section covering Accounts Next Due, Accounts Period End, Confirmation Statement Due, and Last Accounts Made Up To. Deadlines are colour-coded so the urgent ones stand out:
Where filing history exists, a "Recent Filings" section lists the five most recent filings by description and date.
Adding the company as a client
Click "Add as Client" to create the client record. Accupe assigns a reference in the form CLI followed by a random three-digit number, sets the source to Companies House, marks compliance status as amber, and leaves the partner as Unassigned until you assign one. If Companies House returned deadline data, Accupe automatically creates the tasks below so nothing slips through:
- "Accounts for {client name}", due on the Accounts Next Due date, priority High
- "Confirmation Statement for {client name}", due on the Confirmation Statement Due date, priority Medium
Keeping details in sync
Once a client has been added from Companies House, their detail page shows a "CH Verified" badge next to the client name and a "Sync" button in the header. Clicking Sync re-fetches the company profile and refreshes the business name, address, postcode, deadlines, and SIC codes on the client record, showing an inline "Synced successfully" or "Sync failed" message that clears itself after a few seconds.
To sync several clients in one go, use the Client List page. If you have Companies House clients, a "Sync All CH" button appears with a count, for example "Sync All CH (12)". It reports back "Sync complete: X updated, Y failed", or "Sync failed. Check your API key." if the run itself couldn't complete.
Directors and officers
On a client's detail page, open the "Related Contacts" tab (heading: "Directors & Connections"). You can add people manually at any time with "Add Connection" (Name, Role, Email, Phone).
For Companies House clients, click "Refresh from CH" to pull the current officers list. Each officer shows their name, role (for example director), an editable email and phone (saved only in Accupe, never written back to Companies House), and status: Active, or "Resigned {date}" in red.
If there are active officers, a "Screen all (N)" button lets you AML-screen every one of them in a single batch. The result banner tells you how many came back clear, how many need review, how many were flagged, and how many were skipped because your monthly AML screening quota was used up.
Companies House activity feed
Accupe checks your Companies House clients daily and logs any change it finds, for example a new or resigned director, an address change, or a SIC code change. Unread changes appear in a "Companies House activity" panel on your dashboard home, and on the client's own Details tab. Dismiss an entry with "Mark as seen" once you've reviewed it, it drops out of the panel but stays in the audit trail.
Certain changes, particularly anything touching a director or a Person with Significant Control, automatically create a "Refresh CDD" task so you can update your customer due diligence file as part of ongoing monitoring.
Note: The first Companies House check for a newly added client only establishes a baseline, it won't flood you with "director added" events for people who were already in post. You'll only start seeing activity once something genuinely changes after that first check.
