Dark mode and display preferences
Accupe lets you switch between light and dark themes for your own dashboard. This article covers where to toggle it, how your choice is remembered, and how it differs from the separate "dark portal link" your firm can share with clients.
Turning dark mode on or off
- Look for the theme button in the top bar of your dashboard (aria-label "Toggle Theme"). It shows a moon icon while you're in light mode, and a sun icon while you're in dark mode.
- Select it to switch between the two.
- You can also press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux) to jump into the search bar in the top bar, which doubles as a quick command list, and choose "Toggle dark mode" from the actions shown there.
How your preference is remembered
Your theme choice isn't stored on your Accupe account or in Accupe's database; it's saved locally in the browser you're using. That means it needs to be set separately on each browser or device you sign in from.
Accupe decides which theme to show using this order of priority:
Because the setting lives in that browser's local storage, clearing your browser's site data, switching browsers, using a private or incognito window, or signing in on a new device all reset you back to your device's own light/dark setting until you toggle it again.
The separate "dark portal link" for clients
Under Settings > Firm, your firm can also build a themed link to share with clients, for example by adding t=dark to the end of a portal address. This controls what theme a client sees on a public page your firm shares with them; it's a firm branding setting, separate from your own personal dashboard theme covered above.
Note: The web address parameter always overrides everything else, including your own saved browser preference. So if you open one of your firm's own shared client links, you'll briefly see it in whichever theme that link specifies, even if it doesn't match your usual dashboard theme.
Tip: If dark mode keeps resetting between sessions, check whether your browser is set to clear site data or local storage on exit (a common privacy setting), since that erases the saved preference every time you close the browser.
