Deleting your Accupe account
This deletes your entire firm's Accupe account, not just your own personal login. It removes every team member's access, every client record, and everything else your firm has stored in Accupe. It cannot be undone, so read this fully before you start.
Who can do this
Only your firm's owner can delete the firm. Accupe checks this against your role being the owner role specifically, not "admin"; even a full admin cannot complete this action. If an admin who isn't the owner opens the confirmation window and tries anyway, Accupe blocks it with "Only the firm owner can delete the firm." If you're an admin but not the owner, ask your firm's owner to carry it out instead.
What gets deleted
- Go to Settings > Security.
- In the data protection card, select "Request Data Deletion".
- A confirmation window titled "Danger Zone: Delete Firm" opens, warning that this action is permanent and cannot be undone.
The window explains that deleting your firm immediately and permanently removes your company profile, all team accounts, and every client, job, task, timesheet, signature, message, file, AML/KYC record, and audit log connected to your firm. The window's own wording always cites "GDPR Article 17 (Right to Erasure)" as the legal basis, word for word, regardless of whether your firm is on the UK or UAE region; only the shorter description on the main Security page, before you open the window, switches to "UAE Data Protection Law" for UAE firms.
What's kept, and why
A narrow set of records isn't deleted outright: your compliance audit log, your system log, and the general audit log that backs the "View Audit Ledger" screen under Settings > Security. Instead of being removed, these are pseudonymised: your email address is replaced with a hashed, anonymised version, and the log content is replaced with a redacted marker. Accupe retains these in this pseudonymised form to meet money laundering regulation record-keeping requirements, rather than erasing them immediately.
Your firm's Stripe subscription is also cancelled and the Stripe customer record removed as part of the process.
Steps to delete your firm
- Go to Settings > Security.
- In the data protection card, select "Request Data Deletion".
- In the "Danger Zone: Delete Firm" window, type your firm's exact name into the confirmation field. The label shows the exact name to type, copy it from there rather than guessing spacing or capitalisation, since it must match exactly.
- In the second field, re-enter your account password.
- Select "Permanently Delete Firm". This stays disabled until both fields are filled in correctly.
- Wait while it processes; the button shows "Deleting…" while it works through everything connected to your firm.
If your password is wrong, you'll see "Password incorrect" and can try again. If the typed name doesn't match exactly, you'll see "Firm name does not match" and the deletion won't proceed.
What happens after
Once deletion completes, you're automatically signed out and taken to the Accupe homepage. There's no confirmation screen left inside the app to return to, because your firm's account no longer exists.
Note: Deletion removes every team member's and every client's access, not just your own. Make sure anyone on your team who needs their own records has exported or downloaded what they need before you confirm. Once it's done, nobody can sign back in to retrieve anything.
Tip: If you only want a copy of your firm's data rather than to delete everything, use "Export All Data (JSON)" in the same card first. Deletion is permanent and doesn't produce a copy for you afterwards.
