Per-Client Portal Feature Toggles

You can control which sections of the portal a specific client sees, independently of any other client, from that client's own profile.

Where to find the toggles

  1. Go to Clients and open the client you want to configure.
  2. Select the Portal Settings tab (it's the last tab, after Audit Log).
  3. Under "Client Portal Configuration," you'll see three switches.

The three toggles

ToggleDescription shown in the appPortal section it affects
Enable Documents TabAllow the client to view and download shared filesDocuments
Enable MessagingAllow the client to send and receive secure messagesMessages
Enable eSign HistoryAllow the client to view their past signature requestseSign History

Each switch saves the moment you select it; there is no separate save step. If a client's record predates this feature, all three default to on.

How this interacts with per-file sharing

A callout on the Portal Settings tab spells this out: document visibility is primarily managed per file in your Documents tab. Turning off the Documents Tab toggle here hides the whole section from the client's workspace. It's a section-level switch, not a replacement for deciding which individual files a client can see.

What stays visible regardless

Workspace Home and Task Status are not controlled by any toggle on this tab; clients always see them.

Note: Disabling Messaging here is enforced on both sides. The client's sidebar hides the Messages section, and the server also rejects any attempt to send a message for that client with "Messaging is not enabled on your portal," so it can't be bypassed by someone hitting the feature directly.
